  1. Rahmi Koç Museum 

First opened to public eye in 1994, The Rahmi Koç Museum is located at the heart of Beyoğlu. This particular museum was used as a dockyard for ships during ruling days of ottoman empire. This particular building was acquired by the Rahmi Koç foundation and underwent extensive restorations. The museum has an extensive collection on highway, railway, Aviation, letterpress printing, marine navigation and specialized machines. Furthermore, museum has wide range of activities to keep the visitors entertained. Entrance fee is required on Mondays.

  1. Naval Museum

First opened to public in Besiktas district in 1960, this particular museum has a close relationship with Turkish navy forces as it is the first museum related to Turkish army. The museum has a room dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founding father of republic of turkey. Furthermore, entire sections are dedicated to those who lost their lives in the navy. Specific branches are dedicated to Tuğralar (signature of a sultan that was affixed to all official documents and correspondence).

Additional rooms are also dedicated to specific figures such as Fatih Sultan Mehmet,Turgut Reis and Kaptanıderya Hayrettin Paşa. As for a reminder of a more violent time in human history, a room is dedicated to events of World War 1. Wide variety of maps and mines can also be found on display.

Perhaps one of the most important structures in the museum is the tomb of prominent Turkish naval figure, Kaptanıderya Hayrettin Paşa .You can expect to visit vast parts of Turkish and history in this museum every weekday except Mondays. Admission fee for students is free 

  1. Atatürk Museum

Located in sisli area of Istanbul.this museum is also known as Inkılap Museum (revolution museum).first opened in 1942,this museum is historically important as it was the residence of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.Entire section on Amasya, Erzurum and  Sivas congresses can be found including plans and specific objects.

4.istanbul Archaeology Museum

Containing three separated museums in itself, this one-of-a-kind architectural wonder contains archeology, ancient orient arts and tiled pavilion museum. Significant part of Mesopotamian history resides in this museum. The archeology museum was founded by Osman Hamdi in 1891.one of the oldest known manuscripts, treaty of Kadesh is being displaced in this specific museum. In ancient orient arts section, famous sculptures of lions from Babylon can be found. This museum can be visited on all weekdays except Mondays. Museum carts are also valid.

  1. Aşiyan Tevfik Fikret museum

Home of Tevfik Fikret, this museum is located in Besiktas district. Undergone restoration, this museum is dedicated to take a closer look at Tevfik Fikret. Tevfik Fikret’s personal belongings, paintings, kitchen and a specific pan named after Socrates can be visited here. closed on Mondays, this museum can be visited free of charge.

6.Pera Museum

First opened in 2005 in Beyoğlu district, it is impossible to miss the marvelous architecture of the pera museum. Containing 5 floors, you can also find a cafeteria in this museum. Containing many valuable pieces, works from Osman Hamdi Bey and Alejandro Almanza Pereda can be found on display. On Wednesday’s students can enjoy the museum free of charge. Closed on Monday’s entrance fee has to be paid.

  1. Kariye Museum

Located in faith and once functioned as a church and mosque, the museum got its namesake due to it being in a far distance from city. The building was converted to museum on 29th of august 1945.mosaique art can be found on display here. Museum carts are valid and visitors can enjoy the arts free of charge.

  1. Ayasofya Museum

One of significant importance, ayasofya has been used as church, mosque and museum through its extensive history. The building was used as mosque after conquering of Istanbul. Then converted to museum by Ataturk. A place of many legends and stories, ayasofya is open to public everyday with entrance fee is required.

9.Carpet Museum

Located in faith, this is the only museum in turkey to only display more than 448 carpets. Carpets of Turkmenia and Persian origins can be found here.closed on Mondays, entrance fee is required.


  1. Milli Saraylar Resim Müzesi (National Palaces Painting Museum)

Located inside dolmabahce palace in Besiktas, this museum is known for its extensive art collection and striking architecture. Due to safety reasons, taking photographs are not allowed. Closed on Mondays, entrance fee is required.
