This work had such a resonance at that time that everyone flocked to Knidos and wanted to see a work in which the female body was so beautifully rendered.
Unfortunately, important works that were brought out of the country as a result of unconscious excavations in the 1800s are not exhibited where they belong. As a result of the wrong engravings, today more conscious and careful studies are carried out. Coins, pottery, sculptures and sundials have been unearthed so far.

Knidos Ancient City is located 38 km from Muğla-Datça. For transportation, it is possible to reach Yazıköy and Knidos after a few kilometers by following the Knidos signs with your private vehicle. The ancient city can be reached by public transportation vehicles from Palamutbükü, which depart from Datça. It is also possible to provide transportation by boat from the sea.

It has been a city that has made a name for itself especially in the wine trade. Considering the technology of its time, Knidos is a safe harbor for sea voyages that last for days or even months. It is known that the path of many important names in the fields of art and science, as well as trade, passed here. While Euryphon sheds light on the era in medicine and health Polygnotos became one of the important artists of the time with his painting. There are traces of the Roman Empire in the ancient city, which stretches along a long road. There are many churches and theater areas in the ancient city. The ancient city, which bears the traces of many civilizations, started to be abandoned gradually after it came under Byzantine rule.

It is possible to visit the ancient city every day of the week, between 08.30-19.30. Changes in visiting hours are determined by the Ministry of Tourism.
