Zehra Bekki

She was born in 1963 in Balıkesir. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Balıkesir. She graduated from Ege University, 4-year School of Nursing in 1985. She worked in different clinics at Dokuz Eylul University Medical Faculty Hospital for 3 years. She started to METU Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Psychology in 1988.

During her education at METU, she continued her nursing duties at Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Hospital. She continued her career as a teacher of vocational courses at the Health Vocational High School in Balıkesir in 1997. She retired from her teaching career in 2008. In the same year, she took advantage of the university amnesty and returned to her education in the Department of Psychology at
METU and graduated in 2011. After this date, she worked at the Psychotechnical Evaluation Tests Laboratory.

In 2017 and 2018, she took a total of 464 hours of “Family Counseling Training”, 300 hours of theory and 164 hours of practice, and started working in the field of family counseling in her office in Balikesir.

Family therapy, couple therapy, marriage therapy, relationship therapy and sexual therapy are at the center of counseling activities and expertise, which started with its office in Balıkesir, which was opened in 2018.

In addition, she practices therapy for the problems seen in many individuals today, such as depression, social phobia, panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, post- traumatic stress disorder, somatic complaints, vaginismus, communication problems, exam anxiety.

Participating in the 90-hour "Sexual Therapy" training, consisting of 45 hours of basic theory and practice + 45 hours of advanced skills and practice, organized by the Istanbul Family Counselors Association between October 2017 – March 2018, under the instructor of Professor Doctor Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist Cebrail Kısaand she has been successfully certified.

In addition, she successfully received her certificate by participating in the seminar on “New Trends in Counseling and Scale Evaluations” organized by the Istanbul Family Counselors Association in February 2018, under the tutor of Sibel Cesur Akyunak, Specialist Psychologist, Family Counselor and Psychotherapist.

She completed the 50-hour “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Theory Marathon Program” held in 2018 with the cooperation of the Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapies Association and POEM and gained proficiency in CBT.

She successfully completed the “Short-Term Solution Focused Therapy” training given by Assistant Professor Nevin DÖLEK at Marmara Psychology Education and Counseling Center in 2019.
