Prof. Dr. Oktay BANLI

He was born in 1965 in Gülşehir. He graduated from Dikmen Primary School, Sokullu Mehmet Paşa
Secondary School and Ankara Atatürk High School. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of
Medicine in 1988. After completing his compulsory service in Şaphane, Kütahya, he started his
specialization in Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery in 1991.
He became a General Surgery Specialist in 1996. He worked as a lecturer at the university for one
year.

He started to work at the SB Etlik Specialized Hospital in 1997. He worked in the General Surgery
Clinic for 11 years and in the Transplantation Clinic where kidney transplantation was performed. In
addition to this, he went to France for training at different times in 2005-2006. Advanced
laparoscopy trained.

On October 18, 2007, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery by
successfully passing the associate professorship exam. He has been appointed as the Chief of
General Surgery Clinic in Elazig Training and Research Hospital since October 2008.

He became a professor of general surgery in 2013. In 2014, he worked in the bariatric and metabolic
surgery clinic of New York Weil Cornell Medical College and Lenox Hill Hospital, USA.

He has been performing laparoscopic morbid obesity surgeries intensively since 2006.
