Istanbul is an important city that has hosted many civilizations for many years. There are many palaces, especially from the Ottoman Empire. Many palaces that have reached today with restoration are still convenient for visiting. 

TOPKAPI PALACE

Topkapı Palace that was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet between 1460-1478 is located in the Fatih district of Istanbul. People called it Topkapı Palace, because the cannons which were used in the conquest of Istanbul were exhibited at the entrance of the palace. State affairs were carried out here until the Dolmabahçe Palace was built. It has 6 parts and ıt is located on 80,000 square meters. These parts of this palace are Bad-ı Hümayun, Alay Square, Harem, Enderun Courtyard, Sofa-i Hümayun and Divan Square. It is the first museum of Republic Period. Valuable items and artifacts belonging to many cultures, such as spoon maker’s diamond and the beard of our Prophet, are exhibited in it. Entry is free for visitors who are under the age of 18 and over the age of 65. It is open for visitors on every days of week except Tuesdays.

DOLMABAHÇE PALACE

It is located in Beşiktaş. Dolmabahçe Palace was built by Sultan Abdülmecid on 13 June 1843. The architect of this palace, which was built on an area of 110,000 square meters, is Garabet Balyan. Atatürk passed away in room 71. It is an important building which hosted many sultans and their families apart from Atatürk. Today, it is waiting visitors as a museum. Visiting fee is charged except November 10, which is the anniversary of Atatürk’s death.

ÇIRAĞAN PALACE

The building of this palace was started by Sultan Abdülmecid and completed during the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz. 2.5 million gold was used during the construction of this palace. At first this palace was called as Kazancıoğlu Gardens, then Çırağan festivals were organized and people started to be called Çırağan Palace. Today, this palace is used as a hotel and it is a place for fascinating events. Visiting fee is charged from people except children aged 0-5. 

YILDIZ PALACE

It is another fascinating palace in Beşiktaş.ıt was built for the mother of II. Selim , Mihrişah Sultan, in 1807. State affairs began to be carried out here after Dolmabahçe Palace and Topkapı Palace. This Palace is the last palace of the Ottoman Empire. The palace fascinates people with its nature and architecture. There are many pavilions inside the palace. The most remarkable one is the Şale Pavilion. Today, it is open for visitors. 

BEYLERBEYI PALACE

It is located in Beylerbeyi. The construction of palace started in 1861. It was built by Sultan Abdülaziz. It was used as summer house by sultans. Various events are held in this place but especially breakfast in this palace is a pleasure. It has entrance fee. 

TEKFUR PALACE

It is located in Edirnekapı. It is the only palace in İstanbul which remains from the Byzantine period. Today, ıt is waiting visitors as a museum.

ADILE SULTAN PALACE

It is located in üsküdar and was built by Sultan Abdülmecid in 1858. It was built for Sultan’s sister Adile Sultan. There are many rooms and halls in which events, meetings and guests are hosted. This place has undergone many restorations and today, it hosts weddings, meetings and graduations.
