Prof. Dr. Şemsettin Karaca

​He graduated from İnönü University Faculty of Medicine in 1997. He completed his Dermatology and
Venereal Diseases specialization, which he gained in 1998, in the Department of the university he
graduated from, with his teachers, whom he accepted as a lifelong guide. He started as a founding
faculty member at the Skin and Venereal Diseases Department of Afyon Kocatepe University, which
has just been established. After working as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor for nearly
10 years of his academic life, he started to Izmir Katip Çelebi University in 2012 and became a
professor in 2013. He is currently working in the fields of clinical/aesthetic dermatology at his own
clinic, ESTE CLN.

Throughout his academic life, he held academic and administrative positions such as Head of the
Department, Member of the Faculty Board of Directors, Deputy Dean, Assistant Chief Physician,
Hospital Coordinator and Deputy Head Director, Deputy Director of the School, Scientific Research
Projects Coordinator.

He has more than 100 articles published in international and national journals in the field of
dermatology academically. While he was at Afyon Kocatepe University, he was the founder of
AKUMEDİKA, the first university Cosmetology Center in Turkey.

Throughout his professional life, he dealt with all skin diseases, including Psoriasis, Urticaria, Skin
lymphomas, hair and scalp diseases. In addition to these, he made numerous attempts in the fields
of Interventional Dermatology, Dermatological Surgery and Aesthetic Dermatology.
He worked in the fields of dermatological surgery and dermatopathology at Yale University in the
USA and at the Medical University of Graz in Austria. Within the scope of the European Union
Leonardo da Vinci project, it was found to develop a training program in the field of hydrotherapy in
Germany.
